Reinstall after formatting hard drive

This explains how to to re-install HICSOAP PROFESSIONAL after formatting, re-imaging, or doing a clean install of Windows on a computer,

We allow 3 active installations for each purchase. We keep track of the number of active installations via the registration code. So if you want to uninstall from one computer and install on another, please do the following so that our records of active registrations can be updated appropriately.

To re-install a HIC.SOAP PROFESSIONAL or DELUXE (non-networked situation requiring moving database file) installation please do the following

  1. Backup program. MAIN MENU -> UTILITIES -> DATABASE -> BACKUP
  2. Copy database backup file somewhere else, e.g. USB flash drive, network share, etc.
  3. Run the Registration Removal. MAIN MENU -> UTILITIES -> REMOVE REGISTRATION. Then email the removal code to support@hicsoap.com.
  4. Format the hard drive or re-image the system or install Windows. (This step results in a fresh install of Windows.)
  5. Download latest version from hicsoap.com and install on new computer. When asked indicate that you want to use a new, blank database.
  6. Transfer database backup file created in step #1 to computer.
  7. Restore database from backup file. MAIN MENU -> UTILITIES -> DATABASE -> RESTORE. Please don't restore from a backup file on a network drive or USB flash drive. For inexplicable reasons, that sometimes doesn't work. Please first copy the backup file to the hard drive with the new installation. And then restore from that file.
  8. Unlock: Email registration code to support@hicsoap.com from new installation to get new unlock key.

To move a HIC.SOAP PROFESSIONAL or DELUXE (networked situation with database file on server) installation please do the following

  1. Backup database. MAIN MENU -> UTILITIES -> DATABASE -> BACKUP. You won't use backup. It's for safety.
  2. Copy database backup file somewhere else, e.g. USB flash drive, network share, etc.
  3. Determine location of database file. This can be determined from MAIN MENU -> DATABASE ->PATIENT DATABASE FILE (at top of screen)
  4. Determine current working version number. The version number is in upper left hand corner of MAIN MENU and is in the form of a date like 2010.0624
  5. Run the Registration Removal. MAIN MENU -> UTILITIES -> REMOVE REGISTRATION. Then email the removal code to support@hicsoap.com.
  6. Format the hard drive or re-image the system or install Windows. (This step results in a fresh install of Windows.)
  7. Download latest version from hicsoap.com.
  8. Install it. When asked indicate that you want to use database file determined in step #3
  9. If the version number of the new installation is different then the other installations you'll need to update the other installations. This is done simply by running the installation program that you downloaded in step #7.
  10. Unlock: Email registration code to support@hicsoap.com from new installation to get new unlock key.
