Update complains about lack of support subscription

After installing or updating, you are notified that the new release requires a support subscription and that your support subscription has expired. Prior to January 1, 2015 this never happened because updates were free. But as explained here, the unlock code now encodes your support subscription and therefore your ability to run new releases.

There are two possible scenarios - you have actually purchased a support subscription that hasn't expired yet or you have not.
